On
August 4, 2000 the new North San Diego Material
Recovery Facility opened its doors for business.
The new facility which is owned and operated by
Allan Company, is one of the diversion components
that the City of San Diego will use in an effort
to meet and surpass state mandated diversion goals.
State mandated diversion laws have created an
urgent rush to divert at least 50% of the city's
recyclable materials out of landfills.
