Allan Company's paper grade definitions are either the same as, or largely derived from the ISRI Scrap Specifications Circular published by the Institute of Scrap Metal Recycling Industries Inc.

Consists of printed or unprinted sheets, shavings, guillotined books, quire waste, and cuttings of white sulphite or sulphate ledger, bond, writing paper, and all other papers which have a similar fiber and filler content. This grade must be free of treated, coated, padded, or heavily printed stock. May contain colored inks (i.e. red, blue, green) and carbonless paper.

Prohibitive materials may not exceed 1/2 of 1%.

Total outthrows may not exceed 2%.
